Lifetime Hockey Schools
Methods

This page displays photos from one of Lifetime Hockey's recent schools.   It illustrates the methods our instructors use over the course of the school.

Warm-up

Tom teaches a number of effective warm-up drills

Classroom

Tom answers questions from the class.

"Ok boys and girls, here is where you hit the late attacker - the million dollar shooter"

Skating

Balance is improved by skating on one foot.

Even more balance is obtained if you can glide with your skate over your knee.

A cross over drill - do it slowly and you will improve.

Backward skating - Everyone can improve here!

Passing and Stick-handling

The proper position for carrying the stick.  This is critical for improvement.

Tom demonstrates the same position as he prepares to receive a pass.

A stick-handling drill.

A passing drill.  (Yes, even goalies benefit from these essential basic skills.)

Tom demonstrates proper shooting technique.

A two on zero drill to improve passing

An intricate 2 on zero drill where two separate sets of players from opposite ends must pass the puck back and forth.  They then regroup and attack the goal.

Scrimmage

A three on three exercise.  Tom tosses the puck into the center and the first team to get a goal wins.  If the goalie smothers it you lose.

Three on three play continues.  This drill allows each skater a real opportunity to hone their passing skills.

More three on three.  Look at the passing lanes.

A full scrimmage with commentary and coaching provided by the instructors.
