This book nicely complements On the Edge. While On the Edge is a more current book, this book is more of a "coffee-table book" that details the last 100 years of history of women's hockey. Packed with numerous rare archival photographs and illustrations, as well as comprehensive statistics on three (of the four) IIHF-sanctioned Women's World Hockey Championships, Proud Past, Bright Future is an incomparable feast of lore and legend that handsomely delivers yesterday's glory and tomorrow's promise.

In "She Shoots.. She Scores", Barbara Stewart offers a comprehensive guide to this fast growing participation sport. There is a history of women's hockey and a detailed explanation of the rules.
